Core Values

July 27, 2009

When you think about values one of the first words that often come to peoples minds is morals.  However, values are more than just morals.  Values are the convictions that people hold and they are the reasons we make the decisions that we make.  Very simply, Values are the deep convictions and guiding principles that guide our everyday life.  A business has values as well.  Businesses values will guide their decisions as well as provide a filter for formulating strategy.

As we defined our Core Values at Zion, there were several things that we tried to keep in mind.  First of all, the values that we identified needed to be a core belief of the organization.  Second, the list of values that we identified needed to be held to 3-5 values that could be easily memorized and understood by all employees.  We needed these values to become so deeply engrained throughout the organization that they became not just words on the wall but a way of life.

After a process in which we received input from various stakeholders throughout the organization, we came up with the 4 Core Values of Zion; Devoted to Honesty, Passionate for the Customer, Committed to Quality, Dedicated to Family.

Welcome to Zion’s Blog

April 9, 2009

I would like to welcome you to Zion Industries first ever blog.  We look forward to communicating a little bit about our company, our industry and other general things that will impact our organization now and in the future.

I wanted to take this first opportunity to share with everyone about the Vision for Zion.  We have posted our Vision Summary Statement on the right hand side of the page.  I have shared with our employees that there are 3 main points in our Vision.

First, we will meet the outsourcing needs of the manufacturing industry.  A partial list of the processes that we currently offer include; Induction Heat Treating, Straightening, Magnetic Particle Inspection, and Furnace Tempering.  As we grow, we will continue to evaluate other value added operations that our customers would need.

The second main point in our Vision Statement is “delivering unmatched customer service”.  This is such a big part of our vision.  We aren’t just talking about our external customers but also our internal customers.  Obviously when we talk about external customers, topics that boil to the top include quality and delivery.

With regards to quality, we will stay in compliance with all of the latest quality certifications required by our customers.  When we talk about delivery, our goal is to have unheard of turn times in the industry.

Our culture, with regards to internal customers ,will be one in which we provide the same love, dignity and respect within the organization as we are expected to share externally with every Zion customer.

The final point in our Vision statement is “enhancing value for all stakeholders”.  Our stakeholders should not be confused with our shareholders.  Our stakeholders include employees, customers, vendors and also our community.  As we achieve this part of our Vision, everyone wins!

Thanks and I look forward to sharing more with you in the future and reading some of your comments as well.
